When Avery Shaw’s heart is shattered by her life-long best friend, she chooses to deal with it the only way she knows how—scientifically.
The state science fair is coming up and Avery decides to use her broken heart as the topic of her experiment. She’s going to find the cure. By forcing herself to experience the seven stages of grief through a series of social tests, she believes she will be able to get over Aiden Kennedy and make herself ready to love again. But she can’t do this experiment alone, and her partner (ex partner!) is the one who broke her heart.
Avery finds the solution to her troubles in the form of Aiden’s older brother Grayson. The gorgeous womanizer is about to be kicked off the school basketball team for failing physics. He’s in need of a good tutor and some serious extra credit. But when Avery recruits the lovable Grayson to be her “objective outside observer,” she gets a whole lot more than she bargained for, because Grayson has a theory of his own: Avery doesn’t need to grieve. She needs to live. And if there’s one thing Grayson Kennedy is good at, it’s living life to the fullest.
After reading Taking Chances by molly McAdams, I was utterly devastated and I had lots of mixed emotions, I clearly needed The Avery Shaw Experiment to help me in my stages of grief. Well, okay I probably wasn't really grieving nor had my heart truly broken up by Taking Chances. Maybe it helped that I kind of prepared myaelf for devastation prior to reading it hence no truly broken heart needed healing. But! The drama i was currently experiencing in real life needed lots of comfort read and the Avery Shaw Experiment was perfect! Thanks to Katy from I am a reader for recommendng this novel on her blog. After reading her review, I just had to check out what the book was about.
The Avery Shaw Experiment is a very entertaining, fun, heartbreaking and hilariously well made book! And it also made sense! I love it! It certainly belongs to that 5-star books shelf I have. Seriously. The characters Avery and Greyson were completely different yet the same. They were just utterly perfect for each other! I know geek and jocks love story is probably overused right now but somehow the author still made it work! I love Kelly Oram now! I loved how she. Made her characters lovable and very funny. Not only that but her writing is fabulous and just super entertaining! And I needed so much entertainment today. The alternate POVs bet Avery and Greyson was well balanced. Each chapter is well thought, plus the chapter heading was cute! So geeky but cute especially the heart thing. And the story is cute and just adorable! :)
