Waiting on Wednesday: Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Jill from Breaking the Spine, featuring books we are excited upon. :)

Wow, (literally ‘wow’, not ‘Waiting on Wed’ kind of wow) it’s been a long time since I last posted a Waiting on Wed post. Anyway!

This week, I’m excited for...

Title: Isla and the Happily Ever After
Author: Stephanie Perkins
Publisher: Dutton (a Penguin imprint)
Expected Publication: September 17th, 2013

From the glittering streets of Manhattan to the moonlit rooftops of Paris, falling in love is easy for hopeless dreamer Isla and introspective artist Josh. But as they begin their senior year in France, Isla and Josh are quickly forced to confront the heartbreaking reality that happily-ever-afters aren’t always forever.
Their romantic journey is skillfully intertwined with those of beloved couples Anna and Étienne and Lola and Cricket, whose paths are destined to collide in a sweeping finale certain to please fans old and new.

Paris will forever be a place I dream of going to (maybe happening soon! God-willing), and its all thanks to books from Stephanie Perkins and Amy Plum. But, credits to Stephanie because her book came out first and I read it first. And Anna and the French Kiss is just one of those contemporary YAs I will forever hold in my heart (haha), no kidding. I’ve read tons of YA contemporaries and not all of them are memorable. Whenever I look back at my ‘read’ books in goodreads, I often find myself wondering what this particular book was, etc, even if I gave them high ratings. A favorite will always be a favorite :)

Look at that gorgeous and dreamy cover! It came out weeks or even months ago, but I failed to make a post about it. Anyway! The new covers of the series (yes, Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door has them too!) looks all mature and matchy2x...and so picturesque, compared to the original covers. I personally like the contemporary-ness and teen-ish look of the original covers and honestly I wanted to have something matching with the books I owned (that is, the original covers). I hoped there was that version. Though this version is really pretty too. The background images of the book covers presented where the setting of the book is. So cool.

And so, yeah, that’s me blabbering so much on how much I love the series, and I really really want to read this book. I requested an ARC of it but I don’t even know if they will release one. haha. best of luck I guess.

Salut!

  1. Jenna, I am waiting right there with you on ISLA. I loved Anna so much, and enjoyed Lola. I recently re-read Anna to re-acquaint myself with the characters. *swoon* I really want to visit Paris someday, too.

    Have a great day!
