In the aftermath of a forbidden moment that rocked Sydney to her core, she finds herself struggling to draw the line between her Alchemist teachings and what her heart is urging her to do. Then she meets alluring, rebellious Marcus Finch--a former Alchemist who escaped against all odds, and is now on the run. Marcus wants to teach Sydney the secrets he claims the Alchemists are hiding from her. But as he pushes her to rebel against the people who raised her, Sydney finds that breaking free is harder than she thought. There is an old and mysterious magic rooted deeply within her. And as she searches for an evil magic user targeting powerful young witches, she realizes that her only hope is to embrace her magical blood--or else she might be next.
Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, the Bloodlines series explores all the friendship, romance, battles, and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive—this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone’s out for blood.
My Thoughts:
It was amazing. I have always felt like this series was one of those books that make you feel safe and stable and grounded yet they can ellicit so much emotions and reactions from you, moreover after reading one of the books, it will leave you hungry for more but at the same time also sated. It's courageously bold but safe, that's why I love it.
In the Bloodlines series, I've never felt disappointment, I hope it will stay that way forever. Things are moving forward with the plot, many various sideline stories happen(to spice up the story I'm sure) but it's always moving...constantly. It's not just one of those sorry excuse for satisfying the fans' insatiable hunger for Adrian, I mean the story. In Indigo Spell, still told from Sydney's POV, Sydney faces two completely oppossing but still complementary dilemmas. The first is related to uncovering the Alchemist's lies and secrets while the other one is related to Sydney's magic use with Ms. Terwilliger's (odly reminds me of Prof Trelawney from HP,huh) involvement of course, and both poses danger to her life. Between finding out who Marcus Finch is and what his story is with the Alchemist is, and stopping Ms T's on-the-lose sister Veronica reaping away souls of young potential magic users in order to stay young, and not to mention her conflicting feelings for Adrian, Sydney sure has a lot on her plate. I don't even know how her brain is not overloaded. Just when she arrives from a mission from problem A, she's contacted by Ms. T. The only shining moment on this is that Adrian is with her all throughout her journey and predicaments.
I love how Sydney and Adrian's relationship turned into something I myself did not expect. Their easy banter, comfortable friendship and easygoing companionship is all too natural and I am always entertained by their conversation. Both the serious and not serious ones. Sydney is loosing her tightness and her lock and bolted Alchemist values. She's lightening up herself and now uses magic freely, and even if her superego ban her from doing all her Marcus-related spying and being with Adrian, but she certainly doesn't allow these things hinder her from doing what she wants to do. Unlike before. And this. This signifies a lot of things. This is huge. This is the point where turn of the events happen in the whole story, the series, and not just in the Indigo Spell. It's exciting. Plus, Adrian is so addictive and intoxicating. He is better. Waaay way better. You can just feel that this is right for him, this (situation and Sydney) makes him a better person, his transformation, his current stand and opinions makes me adore him more. :) seriously! He's maturing well and good.
There's nothing more to say other than I'm so happy with this book. :) <3 font="">3>
