Always obey your father. That’s what Katherine’s done her entire life. She studies dead languages and practices knife-throwing. Now Pappa’s listening to a virtual stranger, and she’s convinced the stranger cares more about killing monsters than her own safety. Pappa won’t even tell her what they’re going after. He says it’s because if she knows too much, then she’s tainted by that knowledge and it will spoil the hunt.

Can she trust Pappa’s judgment or leave her future in the hands of the stranger? With only her wits to protect her, she joins them in the most terrifying night of the year. (Goodreads)

My Thoughts:

It was really good. Very impressive prose. The figures of speech woven into the story was well done. Especially since this is only a short story, the mystery, the intrigues and how Anne Marie ended the story was really wow.

Diving into the story was not hard at all. Shockingly so, I immediately understood the main character, Katherine. Though there were only few characters, I can still see how deep each character was and where all of their emotions come from. What amazes me more is the fact that this. As in THIS..is just a SHORT story. Not even a whole novel and I'm impressed. No kidding. Just, yeah.

So if you want a short (17 pages or less), meaningful and deep story, you should read this. It's one of those you can't keep off your jead until days after. So many what ifs in the end and also more of those what's next and what was this really about? I'm surprised this didn't catch any attention yet.
