On the precipice of her sixteenth birthday, the last thing lone wolf Cat Crawford wants is an extravagant gala thrown by her bubbly stepmother-to-be and well-meaning father. So even though Cat knows the family’s trip to Florence, Italy, is a peace offering, she embraces the magical city and all it offers. But when her curiosity leads her to an unusual gypsy tent, she exits . . . right into Renaissance Firenze.
Thrust into the sixteenth century armed with only a backpack full of contraband future items, Cat joins up with her ancestors, the sweet Alessandra and protective Cipriano, and soon falls for the gorgeous aspiring artist Lorenzo. But when the much-older Niccolo starts sniffing around, Cat realizes that an unwanted birthday party is nothing compared to an unwanted suitor full of creeptastic amore.
Can she find her way back to modern times before her Italian adventure turns into an Italian forever?
My Thoughts:
I first knew of this book when I was invited to take part on it's cover reveal back in March, early this year. But the cover was different then. I also had an excerpt showed on my blog along with my cover reveal. And from reading that excerpt, I wanted to fast forward to September and meet Lorenzo already!
And now that I've read it, I did not regret anything one bit. My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century has everything I want in a light read- funny MC, time travel, Italy (Firenze in particular), Renaissance, hot guys, cute love story, lessons to be learned and don't forget a happy ending! Plus a potential next book (same setting diff MC) wee! Cat is a hilarious character, imagine? She still had the guts to use her contraband items from the future (ipod, magazines, etc) when she was stuck in the past? Lots of lol moments I assure you. It was a very fast and fun read and one I really needed after reading some serious novels. Teehee. Lorenzo was everything every girl wants in a Renaissance guy. Ha!
So if you're looking for a read that will lift up your mood, this one's perfect! :)
This sounds like a fun read! I like that it made you laugh a lot, great review!
