She can’t.
She used to think her problems were all in her head.
They aren’t.
She couldn’t imagine that after everything she’s been through, the boy she loves would still be keeping secrets.
She’s wrong.
In this gripping sequel to The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, the truth evolves and choices prove deadly. What will become of Mara Dyer next?(goodreads)
My Thoughts:
My gosh. In all the many books that I’ve read (and I am not exaggerating this), The UNBECOMING OF MARA DYER (TUoMD) series is the only mystery I am always always left gaping at whenever I finish any of it. It leaves me unsure of everything I’ve known about in life (okay, so that was already an exaggeration). Anyway, the thing is when the other reviewers said “they were left thinking ‘WTF happened??’”, what they reacted and said was true. I felt the same. Only here in the Evolution (of Mara Dyer), some things were shed light on. A little bit.
At the end of TUoMD, I was reeling with the incident that Mara saw Jude (her ex-boyfriend) alive. I knew it was a fact, even if others wouldn’t say so. The thing that always made my mind roll and work like a clockwork gear machine in this novel were the questions: Is this real? Can Mara just be crazy and of course she wouldn’t say so because she’s narrating it? Is Noah crazy too? or Are they just gifted? or all of them are a bunch of mad people? is there some supernatural thing going on here? and endless more questions hanging in the balance of insanity or reality. And it just keeps going and going. But the author Michelle Hodkin (bless you!) finally revealed something by the end of this novel (The Evolution of MD) that will satisfy our minds..a little bit.
And oh my! The obvious electric connection Mara and Noah have will just make you jealous. Noah, that naughty boy! Okay, not really naughty (but you know what I mean). Sigh. He’s the kind of guy you want to be with. One who will protect you and will do everything to keep you safe. Mara is so lucky to have him. Even if Noah had a past, etc. He is really a good guy. I will take him anytime ;) Gosh, everything he said was just perfect. Even the flawed ones were said at the right time. So it’s still perfect. And the character development Mara and Noah has were plausible. Their honesty and sarcasm and heck, just reading their no-holds-barred conversations entertains me a lot! I just love reading their smart commentaries of how they unravel and solve the mysteries surrounding them.. I guess that’s the main reason why this book is such a thriller ride--because of the fact that no one just plainly told them what in the world is happening to them..and the dilemma of trying to make sense of things is up to them..and the thrill, oh gosh, the thrill of waiting what will happen next was just darn plain good.
I know many already convinced you guys to read this series, but I will again add to that list! If you want a YA, mystery, thriller, romance, and the not-so-obvious supernatural. Then, this book is perfect for you! :) The series will play with your mind and keep you at the edge of your seat until the last page!
Hi Jenna!
ReplyDeleteThis is probably going to be the best book I've read in 2012. I know I still have a few books to read until the end of the year, but it's been a long time since I was so excited about a book when I finished reading it like I was with The Evolution of Mara Dyer.
I need the next one SO BAD!!!
