Blog Tour: Toxic by Jus Accardo- review + interview + giveaway

Hi guys! Today on the blog, we have a tour stop from the Toxic blog tour by Jus Accardo.  I have my review and interview with the author below. Enjoy reading! As I had so much fun with the interview too! :)

Title: Toxic
Series: Denazen #2
Author: Jus Accardo
Publisher: Entangled
Release Date: October 2, 2012
When a Six saved Kale's life the night of Sumrun, she warned there would be consequences. A trade-off. Something taken for the life they gained. But Dez never imagined she'd lose the one thing she'd give anything to keep... And as if it's not enough Dez finds her immunity to Kale fading, the Six brought in to help Kale learn to control his killer touch starts drooling on him the moment they meet. Worse than that? Jade can touch Kale. But bimbo Barbie is the least of Dez's problems.
After Dez and Kale got away at Sumrun, her father lost not only his most powerful weapon but an important piece of the Supremacy project. Forced by Denazen to remedy the situation, he poisons Dez and offers her a choice--surrender to Denazen for the cure...or die. Determined to find a solution that doesn't involve being bagged and tagged--or losing someone she loves--Dez keeps the poison a secret. But when a rash of Denazen attacks hit a little too close to home, Dez is convinced there's a traitor among them. Jade.
Sacrifices, broken promises, and secrets. Dez will have to lay it all on the line if there's any hope of proving Jade's guilt before they all end up Residents of Denazen. Or worse, dead...
My Review:

Not being able to touch the one you love is probably the most difficult thing in the world. The quote "so near yet so far" springs up on my mind and admit it, it's very much fitting to Dez and Kale. To make matters worse, another girl, who's not secretly hated by Dez, can touch her beloved. Sigh.

Dez is rightfully justified by being the cover of "Toxic" since this book contains most of her. Her emotional journey including the physical and mental aspects, will take us on a rollercoaster ride. One I like seeing in series novels is how the characters developed. Especially the girls. They are more fierce and because of all the things they've been through, they may be calloused but they're more experienced and tougher to kill in the end. Another character I love is Kale. If you ask he's not that seen in this novel, or maybe I didn't see him much or I refuse to see him, lol. That's because of the distance that is growing between him and Dez. And there's another new character Jade, whom I won't talk much about because I simply hate her.

Toxic is an awesome second book of the novel. With enough romance and more action to quench your thirst for the love of this series. Jus Accardo brings it on again!

Interview with Jus Accardo

Hello Jus! Welcome to ‘Coffee, books and Me’!

Thanks for letting me hang with you guys today!

Describe to us your book in three words. :)

Emotional, action-packed, and sweet.

This question might have been asked to you a thousand times already, but I’ll still ask, how were you inspired to write the Denazen series?

There’s was honestly nothing specific. I was on line waiting to get coffee and I got the idea with the opening scene of TOUCH. I’ve always been a fan of X-men and the like, so really, it was a perfect fit!

Inspiration for your character’s names?

None, really. They were all pretty random—although I do tend to gravitate toward names that start with K, D, and S…

When did you know you’ll become a writer?

I started re-writing the ending to books when I was a kid. If I didn’t like how it ended, I did it my own way. I was an opinionated little brat ;P My grandmother said I told her when I was six that I was going to grow up and write books. I personally don’t remember this, but it sounds about right :D I was always writing something. Short stories, books, poems and lyrics. I think it was the way I was headed from day one—even if I didn’t know it at the time.

In writing your books, did you always know what will happen next or do
you think of stuffs as you write?

Sometimes I get an idea ahead of time, but mostly, it’s all seat-of-my-pants. I’m definitely not a plotter. When I wrote the ending for TREMBLE (book 3) it totally shocked me. Took me by surprise—in a good way!

When writer’s block comes, what do you do to “remedy” it? (eat ice
cream, perhaps? lol. that’s just me though)

Mostly I find music unblocks my brain. If I’m stuck on a particular scene or plot point and I can’t get around it, I go to my playlists. 99.9% of the time, it clears right up. For that .1%? Chocolate :P

Do you consider the writer career as a full time job or not?

Totally. I work from 5 or 6 in the morning, generally all the way through to midnight. Occasionally I’ll take a few hours in the afternoon to fill the fridge or wash the dishes (not as often as I should…).

If you could be inside the Denazen world, who would you assign yourself to be and why?

Um, I’d be Dez. Cause then I’d have Kale! *ahem* Seriously? I’d probably be myself—with an epic ability like teleportation or animal communication.

First author that comes to your mind when asked ‘Who is your fave author’?

*panics and takes a deep breath* RobThurmanDaryndaJonesKelleyArmstrongMaryStanton They’re all so awesome, they make one uber fave :P

Favorite book of all time that you’ve reread over and over again, and still amazes you EVERY time.
The Heavenly Horse from the Outermost West by Mary Stanton

What can we expect from ‘Toxic’?

Well, Dez and Kale have a lot to deal with. Thing haven’t ever been easy for them—and that’s not about to change. There’s going to be a lot of secrets, some betrayal, and a couple of bombs dropped.

Upcoming projects?

Working on a new paranormal series. Details soon !

lastly, coffee or tea?

COFFEE! Coffeecoffeecoffeecoffee. I like coffee…. :P

I must say, perfect answer! :)
Thanks for stopping by on my blog Jus! All the best to you and your
books! :)
