An amazing new sci-fi series begins with The Broken Destiny: Book One of The Broken Series. My Thoughts:
Ava's People have been exiled to Planet Poseidon, where through a series of horrific events, Ava discovers that their existence has been fabricated by The Council, And She has a Destiny that could save them. Her Soul is a secret weapon that has been lost to an ancient race. To fulfill her destiny Ava needs to go through a series of "chances" that will reveal her true purpose. Throughout her journey she will become what she hates in order to save the ones she loves. And through it all she will find herself - for that is her Destiny, to rise above the fall.
The Broken Destiny is somewhat a combination of scifi, dystopian with a hint of fantasy. Great premise and I can see lots of potential on the novel. I have always loved dystopian novels. This one particularly reminds me of Across the Universe by Beth Revis (a book I love so much), not that they are alike, because they aren't. But just with the new planet thing. In Broken Destiny, the new planet is called Poseidon.
There's so much intrigue and mystery yet left unsaid with the novel, but that's totally okay, given the fact that this is the first in the series. It's a really good first book, Carlyle has created a good foundation for the story. Plus there's a love triangle that I'm hanging on too. I'm a sucker for those. But I have to say, at first, I had a hard time grasping the setting of the novel, because it was mixed with lots of stuffs. But as I got further, I began to understand the story. The characters in the novel are diverse from each other which makes a great overall picture for the story. Ava is a strong-willed person and I can't wait for her character development to go up a higher notch. The supporting characters are also highly important in the story as without them there would be no thrill.
This is a highly imaginative and rich scifi/dystopian-ish story that will surely make you grab the edge of your seats.
