Author: Nick James
Publisher: Flux
Release Date: September 8, 2012
Our best-selling sci-fi series continues
Following their dramatic showdown in Seattle, Jesse Fisher and Cassius Stevenson find their world’s been turned inside out. The faculty at Skyship Academy is keeping Jesse a prisoner in his own home, fearful of his influence over Pearls. And Cassius, once a loyal Pearlhound for the Unified Party, has been pushed into hiding, fearful of his government's retaliation.
When Jesse smuggles a mysterious red Pearl onboard the Academy, he sets loose a destructive chain of events, which lead him to a reunion with Cassius and a confrontation with Theo -- a bloodthirsty Pearlhound with a dangerous secret.
But a larger threat looms in the stars. An enemy is gathering, with plans to exterminate the entire human race. And Jesse and Cassius might just be the lynch pins that trigger mankind's destruction.
This or That with Nick James
Black or white?
Black. There’s something
more dramatic about it. That’s not to say that I like darkness and
death, though. In fact, black is a very important color in Crimson
Rising. Red and black, and I’ll leave it at that…
Coffee or tea?
Tea, simply because I don’t drink coffee. But I’d also go for a nice hot chocolate.
Shorts or jeans?
As
far as how they look, I’d go with jeans, but I have a rule that in the
summer I have to wear shorts pretty much every day. Here in the Pacific
Northwest we get so few stretches of warm days. You have to take
advantage of them when they’re here.
Shoes or flip flops?
Pretty
much the same answer as the last one. I wear flip flops every day
during the Summer, but I much prefer how regular shoes look. Barefoot is
better than both, though! I managed to go barefoot almost all summer
this year.
Reading or writing?
Writing. I’m an active person, so I enjoy actively putting down a story.
The beach or pool?
The
beach! Again, we have so few decent ones around here, so when I
actually get to go to a real beach, I’m in heaven. Add fish and chips to
that, and it’s double heaven. (Is double heaven even a thing?)
Diamond or pearls?
No real preference, as neither interests me. But… as the author of The Pearl Wars, I bet you can choose which I would pick!
Peace or war?
Peace in real life, war in stories. We all want peace, of course, but nobody wants to read a book without conflict!
Cat or dog?
Definitely dogs. I grew up with cats, but dogs are so much more fun.
Stand alones or series?
I
like both, but prefer series. I like to be able to follow characters
through different adventures. The complexity of a series also appeals to
me. It’s cool to see how things connect between books.
Thanks for dropping by Nick! :)
