My Thoughts:
There are two types of fiction books. First, it's the one that you can read fluidly without much effort in understanding the story. The other one is when you have to read and reread a sentence or pargraph over and over again, just to understand what just happens. It's the kind that uses lots of not everyday used words and stitching the, together with less Articles and linking verbs/words. "Over You" falls on the latter.
I loved the story, don't misunderstand me. A company that helps you deal with break-ups? Unique! But I have to say I had to crawl myself towards Comprehension on this one. It totally challenged my English proficiency, which is actually good, by the way. Anyway, other than that I have no other issues with the novel. Loved the plot, and the twists and turns? So good. Over You entertained a bunch in me. I laughed a lot and my heart broke with some. In the end, not only did Max (a girl, ok?) and the other characters learned a lot of lessons, but I learned a lot from them too. Sometimes in life, we have to go through the same hurts and pains more than once so we can finally not only know but also understand the consequences of our actions and most importantly the truth. Wow, that was kinda deep.
Overall, Over You was such a nice read. I felt I was reading another John Green,David Levithan and Rachel Cohn book. If you've read the books of those authors, you'll know what I mean. ;)
ooh I LOVE your blog design! (I'm an old follower. This post popped up on my feed and I had to read your review!)
ReplyDeleteAnyways, yea Over You looks cute! and its ALWAYS a good thing when reading books improves your english (if it is a second language) and increases your vocabulary.
