Book Review: Until I Die by Amy Plum

My Thoughts:

    Until I Die began about a month after Die For Me. It was exquisite. Under the setting of the lush Paris, I can’t help but fall in love and into the rhythm of the series again. And again, the book made me want to go and fall in love with someone in Paris. Cliché, I know, but sweet!

    The first half of the book was like a steady flow of river. Everything was normal-okay. I was not really bored, because I liked reading every Kate-Vincent moment. A bit cheesy and sappy at times, but I totally dig it. Somehow I understood that the plainness of the events. The first half composed of the building of the story. However, I can’t help but look for the something that twists everything. It did show up as a form of the time problem of Kate and Vincent. It was their problem from the beginning but they somehow were able to stall it the first time. But without really trying to solve it in the long-term basis, it will always resurface. Then there’s the numa. There’s something more dangerous in their silent treatment than their occasional attacks.

    I was really happy with Kate’s character in this book. She was maturing as a person- physically and emotionally. Her faith in her relationship with Vincent was admirable. Honestly, I was beginning to give up and was murmuring “break up with him already” with the purpose of making Vincent try harder in their pursue of solution. I was thinking it was kind of unfair even if Vincent will be able to endure his need of dying and will reach his 60’s/70’s/80’s with Kate, but when Kate dies, he will live again. Their love story will be kind of pointless. But if Vincent will become mortal, then things are different. The good kind of different. Back to Kate, as I said she was more matured now. At first she wasn’t good in her training, but she never gave up, and because of this she now has good stamina. Vincent on the other hand is still so crushable and all that humble and charming. He’s trying. I can see how hard everything is for him. But both of them do it well in balancing their priorities, etc. I love both of this characters that I wish them good ending.

    The plot of this second novel of the series was good and interesting, and that kept me reading. Though the ending was a bit depressing for me. At the same time it holds all kinds of possibilities and hope. And I just can’t wait to get hold of the third book.
