"I won't tell anyone, Echo. I promise." Noah tucked a curl behind my ear. It had been so long since someone touched me like he did. Why did it have to be Noah Hutchins? His dark brown eyes shifted to my covered arms. "You didn't do that-did you? It was done to you?" No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked. My Thoughts:
So wrong for each other...and yet so right.
No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.
Pushing the Limits is an Overwhelmingly compelling and addicting novel. I was hooked with Echo and Noah's story. It was a mix of love's incredulity and mystery with pain and the world's cruel unfair system. Yes, the cover did capture my attention and attracted me to know the story behind those beautiful cover..plus what other bloggers have said about it. But when I started reading the book, I was compelled to read it all the way.
I love contemporary YA novels, but I am more in love with them when they tackle serious issues that are very real in our world. That's why I loved this book. Plus, the kind of love that emminated and was showed in the book felt very genuine, not the fairy tale kind but the real one. That's why I appreciated it more.
Echo has her scar issues, and Noah has his own scars too. Both went underwent crazy heart-shattering overloaded head-spinning rollercoaster emotionally heavy issues. Sadder because they are just teenagers, forced to be grown-up and face grown-up decisions. Their story was gripping. Heck, I cried and bawled my eyes out, with all the hiccups kind of crying. Noah's love for his brothers and what he experienced was hell. Echo was lied to and kept from the dark for too long it hurts to evenjust imagine how pain must have shown on her face. That's why I was so glad they found each other. And though both of them didn't get the perfect ending they wanted, but all things worked together great anyway.
I liked how a Mrs. Collins type of character was in the picture. She was no fairy godmother but I sure see her as one. I saw counselors in a different view now. Yes, they are undeniably irritating but finding the one who can really understand you will really change your life. I know many people are suffering different issues in their life nowadays, and even if this is just fiction, I saw that it really helps to get help.
Both the main characters pushed both their limits, extending it until it has stretched it's last elasticity. And it was all worth it for both of them. I invite you guys to read the book and learn a lesson that will touch your life. It's about life, family, school, sanity and most of all love. What we do just to save what we can save and live a fulfilling life.
And I like the touch of Christian values inserted in the book. Subtle but there. ;)
