EXCERPT!

Her cold fingers laced perfectly around my neck. In this moment I knew without a doubt that I was going to die, but I wasn’t scared. After everything that happened to me since moving to Miami, I almost craved death. Finally, she was getting her revenge on me. Nobody else would die because of what I did. Finally, I was being held responsible for what I did to her.

I always thought that in facing death, life would flash before my eyes. I thought I would see a bright light, but I didn’t. All I could see was my killer. Her golden eyes stared down at me, and I waited patiently for her to make her move.

It was in those last few moments that I felt peace. In less than a month, I found true, everlasting love. My only regret is not getting more time with him, and never getting to tell him how I really feel. Never getting to tell him, I love you. I wouldn’t get to say goodbye to my dad.

The thing she did next surprised me. She bit her wrist and put it up to my mouth. I tried hard to push her away, but I was no match for her strength. She urged me to drink. The moment her blood touched my tongue, I found myself drinking it. I craved it, I wanted it. I didn’t want her to pull her arm away, but she did much too soon.

Everything from this moment went in slow motion.
