A gift…or a curse?

Jessica Mastriani has never liked attention. All she wants is to make it to high school graduation like any ordinary girl. But when Jess is struck by lightning, she becomes anything but ordinary: suddenly she has the ability to locate missing children.
Now Jess is getting noticed in all the wrong ways and by all the wrong people. The media is obsessed with her and her story. The FBI is tapping her phone. And what’s going on with sexy senior Rob? Soon Jess learns the hard way that not everyone who is lost wants to be found….
With no one to trust, it's up to Jess to decide what to do with her new power—before it’s decided for her.

My Thoughts:

My gosh! I forgot how funny and hilarious Meg Cabot writes. I don’t know why I left this book unread for more than a year, when it’s such a page-turner. I didn’t realize I was about to finish it until I took a break and bookmarked it.

This book covered the first two books of the infamous 1-800-where-R-U series. Jess Mastriani’s your average 16-year old girl. Except that she got struck by lightning and got this great super powers- knowing where missing kids are. Really. It’s this unusual super powers right? Well anyway, in “When Lightning Strikes”, Jess narrated her life before and right after the “incident”. AT first, she helped out anonymously by calling the number (at the back of cereals, etc) and telling where the missing kids are. HOwever, the feds (federal govt) soon found out about her talent and invited her to a place where she’ll be investigated, etc. Lots of stuff and complications happened then. And she also soon learned that not all missing kids want to be found.. and there’s also this thing with her love life. ehem. composing of Rob. Wilkins.

In “Code Name CAssandra”, her journey continues. This time she’s living a “lie low” life with her psychic abilities. What, when she told a lie to the Feds last time just so all the fussing will be done already. It worked for awhile, save for the white van outside their house. Thus, she agreed to be a counselor in this orchestra camp. There were a lot of things that happened here. Basically, she’s trying to hide her secret, successfully and unsuccessfully, which led to a situation where her life is in danger.

OVerall, this novel was extremely hilarious, I’m most of the time laughing by myself. The story’s great, and it’s not just some forsaken story, haha. Loved it.
