My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,
To storm or fire the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath,
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.

Percy is confused. When he awoke from his long sleep, he didn't know much more than his name. His brain fuzz is lingering, even after the wolf Lupa tol him he is a demigod and trained him to fight with the pen/sword in his pocket. Somehow Percy manages to make it to a camp for half-bloods, despite the fact that he has to keep killing monsters along the way. But the camp doesn't ring and bells with him. The only thing he can recall from his past is another name: Annabeth
Hazel is supposed to be dead. When she lived before, she didn't do a very good job of it. Sure, she was an obedient daughter, even when her mother was possessed by greed. But that was the problem - when the Voice took over he mother and commanded Hazel to use her "gift" for and evil purpose, Hazel couldn't say no. Now because of her mistake, the future of the world is at risk. Hazel wished she could ride away from it all on the stallion that appears in her dreams.
Frank is a klutz. His grandmother says he is descended from heroes and can be anything he wants to be, but he doesn't see it. He doesn't even know who his father is. He keeps hoping Apollo will claim him, because the only thing he is good at is archery - although not good enough to win camp war games. His bulky physique makes him feel like an ox, especially infront of Hazel, his closest friend at camp. He trusts her completely - enough to share the secret he holds close to his heart.

Beginning at the "other" camp for half-bloods and extending as far as the land beyond the gods, this breathtaking second installment of the Heroes od Olympus series introduces new demigods, revives fearsome monsters, and features other remarkable creatures, all destined to play a part in the Prophesy of Seven

My Thoughts:

EPIC. I forgot how this Heroes of Olympus series (plus the Percy Jackson & the Olympians) made me feel. With all the right whoops, jams, hooks, punchlines, and all sorts of quotable lines offered up to all the fans as well as new readers. I love love love this series!
It picked up where “The Lost Hero” left of..but this time hearing from the other side of the coin-Camp Jupiter (the Romans are alive!). It’s totally different from the lax life from Camp Half-blood. Where Greek slept like rightful demi-gods, the Romans did what Romans do- they were the most civilized group of people I’ve met! And these lads live in a town. Yes, a town. For the rest of the descriptions of the Camp Jupiter, read the book!
The new characters brought a new spice to the story. Literally, they are real different from the others. Hazel came back from the dead and Frank, he’s a son of Mars (that’s Ares in Greek) and a descendant of Poseidon. Yeah, it’s tough to figure it out but you’ll learn to cope. The book started with already a running on the go. Percy’s on in an action already! It’s hard to decipher how lots lots lots of things that happened was contained on this 520-paged book. Just plain awesome. I really like how Rick Riordan tells from the third point of view but with each perspective from each main character delivered wisely. As I read whether from Percy/Frank/Hazel’s side, I understood more and more of their experiences, and believe me when I say each of them had their own issues. But I love how they learned to trust and confided with each other. Also! I have to give it to Percy to hold on to sanity when your memories taken away from you and still be able to fight! He’s a real hero! I can’t say much about the book without spilling all the beans! It was just great! I love their adventure here! lots of great lessons too! I’m a happy reader. :)
Wrapping up, I loved being Greek (that’s how I felt when I read Percy Jackson series and The Lost hero), but now I also grew to love being a Roman. I want to be both. This is book is seriously an educative one, I tell you. Read on! :)
