Deeper We Fall blog tour [guest post+ INT’L giveaway]

Hi there guys! Happy Monday to everyone!

Today we have a tour stop for the Deeper We Fall Tour, hosted by Xpresso Book Tours. The book series are by New York Times Bestselling author, Chelsea M. Cameron :)

For my tour stop, we have a special guest post from the author herself. She will be talking about book writing research and what it entails. And we can see a glimpse of what goes inside an author’s mind while writing their “pieces”.

Check out the books' blurb below. And, don’t forget to enter the INTERNATIONAL giveaway :)

Book Writing Research
Research. Oohh, just typing it gives me chills. It is next-to-impossible for an author to write a book without doing research. That old adage, "write what you know" doesn't hold up when one of your characters decides to be an art history major and you know NOTHING about art history.
When it comes to research, it can run the gamut of how to re-attach a car door after someone has pulled it off, how much blood is in the human body and what are the most common forms of suicide. Yes, these are all things that I've researched for one book or another. I've also looked up cars, the Starbucks menu, John Hughes movies and Parole procedure in the state of Maine.
The more I interact and speak with other writers, the more I believe we're the kind of people who always want to know things. We're nosy. We eavesdrop on private conversations. We can't go to a party without scanning the room and looking for interesting bits to put in our work. We're information junkies, and the research process feeds into that.
I am not a plotter. When I sit down to write a book, I know very little about the characters, the story, or what will happen. I know the beginning, and how I want it to end, and the in-between is up in the air. This makes researching very difficult. I envy those writers who can make an entire outline and do all their research BEFORE they actually start writing the book. I wish my brain worked this way, but it doesn't.
All my research is done on the fly. I always have an internet window up when I'm writing and usually can do a quick Google search. Wikipedia is a writer's best friend. I still try to get information from several sources, though, just to make sure. I use Twitter a lot, because I follow quite a few other writers who may have researched something and be able to answer my questions. I also shamelessly use my friends for knowledge. One is a nurse, one is going to be a vet, one is an insurance claims rep, and one is doing a shift at a morgue. My mom is also crazy smart and just as obsessed with knowing things as I am. Books, music and movies are also great research tools. And there's always looking at pictures of hot shirtless guys on Pinterest as visual inspiration… Not that I do that. Much.
I love learning new things. When I have to write about something I don't know about, I get a little thrill because that means I get to learn something new. It's one of the greatest things ever, and I'm lucky enough to have found a career that lets me do as much as I want. When other students would be moaning and groaning about a research paper, I was secretly thrilled. I actually miss college because I don't get a chance to write research papers anymore. Is that weird? I hope that's not weird...

Deeper We Fall by Chelsea M. Cameron (Deeper We Fall #1)
Genre: New Adult Contemporary
Publication date: January 24th 2013

Two years after her best friend was involved in a car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury, Lottie Anders is ready to start her freshman year of college. Ready to move on. Ready to start forgetting the night that ripped her life apart.
Her plans come to a screeching halt when not one, but both brothers responsible for the accident end up back in her life again.
Zack is cruel, selfish and constantly rubbing what happened to her friend in Lottie's face.
Zan is different. He listens to her awkward ramblings. He loves "To Kill a Mockingbird" as much as she does, and his dark eyes are irresistible. His words are few and far between, but when he does speak, she can't help but listen.
The trouble is, Zan was the driver in the accident, and now Lottie's discovered he lied to her about what happened that night. Now she must decide if trusting him again will lead to real forgiveness, or deeper heartache.

  9. Researching is so hard! I (makes attempts to) write too, and I just do not like researching. I love learning, but everything that I do have to look up is usually not something I'm too interested in. Like right now.. right science fiction? Well, let's make you look up HISTORY!
