A Peek at my life: my 1st ever speaking engagement

Hi guys! So, last February 27, I mentioned I had a "speaking engagement" in my alma mater, Davao Christian High School. It's both coming to me as funny and surreal. More of the "seriously?" Feeling there too. Anyway, I'm highlighting my experience in this post.

It first started when my former History and Entrepeneurahip subj teacher (now the High school principal) Ma'am Jocy, asked me to speak and share my experiences as a book blogger. I was hesitant at first because I'm not much of a public speaker (though I do tend to talk a lot, but that's different). BUT! The thought of talking about one of the things I love about is a really grand idea, and so I said 'why not?'.

I prepared some short slides mostly a collage of pictures posted on my blog. I talked about book blogging, what I do as a book blogger, you know the basics (mpdiff memes, blog tours, reading challenges, etc). There was a Q&A part, and I loved how they asked sensible questions which reflects their interest in  books. the book nerd in me grinned  and  was like a proud momma.  To continue, I also had a giveaway sesh. I made some book trivia questions (my friend Assel also helped me make some) and gave tons of bookmarks as prizes. I also gave away four books, three of which are ARCs through a raffle.

I don't know if I'm biased, but I deem the event successful and I think the kids (look at me referring to the HS students as 'kids', well, I'm not really that old, I'm 22! Anyway) really enjoyed the event, especially the giveaway part. It also helped that we brought coffee. :)

Not that this is a book or anything but I would like to acknowledge a few people making the event possible. (I sound like an event host, lol)
Well, first there's God. Of course. And then:
Ma'am Jocy, Marj, Ma'am Jennelyn and Sir Joel (interest group moderators), my sister Hannah and for all the students who came as well as some of the teachers who checked out what I had to say too.

Thank you for the certificate of appreciation too! :)

  1. Wow that sounds so neat! What a cool opportunity--getting to share what you love to do with other people in person! (Versus the usual situation... being on the interwebs!) I would have loved to see a presentation like that when I was in high school! Love that you probably just introduced a few new people to the world of book love. That is awesome! And I bet they loved getting the chance to win stuff, too! :)
