Book Review: The Vicious Deep by Zoraida Cordova

My Thoughts:

I was always Little Mermaid when I was a kid. My cousins, my sister and I each have a corresponding fairytale princess character, and I would proudly wave my tail as Princess Ariel. I have always loved the water, and always will. That's why it doesn't surprise me that I love the mertale fad that's rising nowadays. 

It such a breath of fresh air reading from a guy's POV, all throughout the story. This book was what I did not expect it to be, and I mean that in a good way. The synopsis would have you believe the novel is so dark and serious, that's one of the main reasons I'm putting it off for a while. But when I started reading it,  I was surprised to see how much I enjoyed it. Tristan Hart is such a dude. In all angles and ways and I'm impressed with Zoraida Cordova for how confident she is in writing from a guy's POV and being effective in getting the novel's readers inside a guy's head. A hot guy's head.

The story was also not uncommon but the author was able to tell the story in such a way that it is still unique. I love reading specific-themed paranormal fantasy books and comparing different author's different depictions of let's say werewolf, or mermaid, fairies, vampa, etc. In The Vicious Deep, I somehow felt iy was real and some parts were unreal but the reasons behind them were reasonable enough. It's funny how I can easily grasp these things, but only because I know it's fiction. If it will happen to me in real lofe, that's another story,lol. Anyway, I like Tristan Hart so much. Though he's a jerk, but he's honest and protective of those he loves. I love how easy his relationship with his parents are, and that there is still one secret he chose to still keep a secret because that's how special i is to him, revealing it would probably have some repercussions he is not yet ready to sacrifice. His relationship with his friends and best friend, Layla, also surprised me-in a good way. I just have to say that there's still something unsettling with the writing of the story, I can't put my finger on it but Sometimes when I read a sentence, there's something wrong in that sentence. Must be the grammar, or how the words were put together. This led to some confusion on my part, but it doesn't lessen my like on the book as a whole. I am already itching for the next book. :)
