It’s hard not to be afraid while I’m still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn’t touched me yet.
Still, I worry.
They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness.
The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don’t.
My Thoughts:
There are countless of novels about forbidden love, but not as clear as this one. In the future world, love is a disease. It’s just not one of the diseases, but it’s THE DISEASE. It’s ridiculous actually, to label LOVE as a major disease. Much more importance is given to it than cancer, autoimmune diseases, etc. The story plot is unique but just as unbelievable.
Amor Deliria Nervosa. It sounds like anorexia nervosa. Anyway, that wasn’t related to what I have to say about this book. Lol. I love every forbidden love books out there, and how couples defy everything just to be together. Their love story sounds more EPIC when it’s like than. Classic Romeo & Juliet. But in Delirium, it’s added with a “dystopian” touch, and it worked out well. The storyline is great, a lot of things were expected, but there were also things that weren’t expected and that turned out to be the driving force that drove Lena, the main character, to change her perspective on things. As the first book in the series, I find this one sufficient and well programmed. I, as a reader, wasn’t confused on how things went through despite the new environment introduced. I love the snippets and quotes of poems or songs that are totally fiction featured before each chapter starts. Though the references and the quotes were also made up, there’s something authentic about it. Also, it’s very much relevant to the chapter. I love it when authors think through of that. It gives the readers a clue to what might happen inside that chapter. It’s sort of a challenge to connect the relevance, etc.
The ending was killer. It has what each book should have. The rising climax, the thrill of it all... The unexpected things that happened. It ALL just makes me sigh. A SUPER BIG SIGH. And I LOVE every single word of it. 5 stars to Lauren Oliver!
