Book Tour: Review & Giveaway: Forever Girl by Rebecca Hamilton

Sophia Parsons’ family has skeletons, but they aren’t in their graves...

Solving the mystery of an ancestor’s hanging might silence the clashing whispers in Sophia's mind, but the cult in her town and the supernaturals who secretly reside there are determined to silence her first.

As Sophia unknowingly crosses the line into an elemental world full of vampire-like creatures, shapeshifters, and supernatural grim reapers, she meets Charles, a man who becomes both lover and ally.

But can she trust him?

It’s not until someone nearly kills Sophia that she realizes the only way to unveil the source of her family's curse: abandon her faith or abandon her humanity. If she wants to survive, she must accept who she is, perform dark magic, and fight to the death for her freedom.

My Thoughts:

Right from the beginning, we are already thrown into the middle of the story, where certain things in the past that are important and life-changing has already occurred in Sophia’s life, and this turned out to be actually good. We are no longer required to read through a very complicated past that has already been summarized (in a way) for us.

The Forever Girl is not entirely unique in the witch paranormal story, however because nowadays there has been so many countless novels that are depicting new “witch histories” and themes, that this novel which somewhat stuck to the “original tales” is a breath of fresh air for me. It’s full of so many things that left me reading through it so fast.

I’m quite used to reading an independent woman narrating the story, but in this case, Sophia is one lonely girl and she’s quite brave facing all those ridicules and persecutions thrown at her. While I’m not a fan when Christianity is shown how it was shown in the person of Mrs. Franklin, but I must say I was glad that the author also presented the other kinds of Christian who are “true to their faith” like one of her friends who didn’t judge. It kind of shames me but I have to admit that there really are some Christians who don’t live as one and judge people frequently and in the wrong way. Anyway. back to the story.

In Forever Girl, we encounter new characters in the form of Elementals. There are tons of dramas, some action, mysteries, romance that will leave its readers wanting for more. good job!

  4. Thank you for having me on your blog! The Christian aspect was a delicate thing for me. I'm non-religious myself. I tried to keep it balanced though (Good Wiccan, Bad Wiccans, Good Christians, Misguided Christians). And then I sort of threw in there that Mrs Franklin had that OTHER problem... I don't want to give away any spoilers :P I'm so glad you picked up on those balances!
