Book Review: The Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst

The Marriage BargainThe Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A marriage in name only...

To save her family home, impulsive bookstore owner, Alexa Maria McKenzie, casts a love spell. But she never planned on conjuring up her best friend's older brother—the powerful man who once shattered her heart.

Billionaire Nicholas Ryan doesn’t believe in marriage, but in order to inherit his father’s corporation, he needs a wife and needs one fast. When he discovers his sister’s childhood friend is in dire financial straits, he’s offers Alexa a bold proposition.

A marriage in name only with certain rules: Avoid entanglement. Keep things all business. Do not fall in love. The arrangement is only for a year so the rules shouldn’t be that hard to follow, right?

Except fate has a way of upsetting the best-laid plans…

My Thoughts:

Warning!!! due to mature content of the book, I don’t recommend it to TEENS! I barely was able to read the sexy scenes, (okay, so I actually skipped the “too much info” parts-which was a lot. haha.)

It was a fun, sweet, and rather sexy hot, romantic story (too sexy I needed to skip some, haha). I can eaily imagine the book to be a movie, a chick-flick that is hard not to adore. Plus, it was not all about the sizzling tension between Alexa and Nick the story has a lot to say about and represent about the couple's nowadays but most especially to most of the people's common attitude in not believing in love and refusing to be in love because of the risks and consequences they are not willing to take. It's honestly so sad to know that this refusing to love thing by some people show their cowardice, and the "playing safe" attitude. I'm not saying it's bad to want to be in control in your life, but life wouldn't mean so much without some spice to add up to it, right?

Anyway, the bottomline is, we should live, love and enjoy. And besides the too mature sexual scenes, i really had a good laugh reading this short novel.

  1. HI Jenna! First off, thank you so much for reading the book and skipping the parts you were uncomfortable with - lol! I thought your review was so lovely and inspiring - you seriously got the undertones of my message that to take a leap with love in today's society takes heart and soul and courage...and it's worth it. Thank you SO much for reviewing it!

  4. This is the first time reading Jennifer Probst. I absolutely loved this book! Nick and Alexa's passion was explosive to say the least. Their up and down relationship had me on the edge of my seat. The sexual tension was electrifying! I was so happy that Gabriella was not able to undo Nick. This book made me laugh (all the dogs), cry (all dressed in Mets), swoon (when Nick said to Alexa "I want to make love to you"), say awwww (Nick getting Taylor ice cream). I was on an emotional roller coaster and enjoyed every minute of it.
