There is need. And then there is Fate...
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone. (from Goodreads)

My Thoughts:
Pure purely and truly is a fantastic read! It has the action, the hype, the oozing hotness of two ah-may-zing guys, crazy hot scenes, and crazier and more complicated and more intriguing plot! All the elements we all adore and look for in the Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy genre is in Pure. *No exaggeration*
When I started reading the first book, Half-blood, I just knew Jennifer Armentrout is going to be one of my favorite authors, like she’s in the top. Rarely can we find an author that has a talent in delivering the perfect PNR&UF novel to the YA audience. I’ve been reading a lot of books with this particular genre for already more than a year, and for the past few months, I feel like the story’s being reused all the time, change the characters name and some snips and snaps in the plot, voila! another novel! I miss the times when I can’t sleep if I won’t finish a book that is so good. And I found myself savoring and turning the pages so quickly in JA’s writings. So, I’m just so glad to have found JA and my love for reading PNR was rekindled.
So, in Pure, there’s just a lot of things that I love about it, and I wanna spill all the beans to y’all. To tell you honestly, I loved it more than Half-blood, because I saw a lot of similarities in HB that is in VA, which I don’t like. Pure just is more original and there’s more in it. There are lots of changes in the original characters, and there are also many new characters. We will meet new ones that will make us ponder if they’re trustworthy or not. There’s so many questions formed in my mind that drives me insane not knowing what the answer is. So many doubts creep into my head on who to trust and which path to follow. Amidst all this, Alex’s character still stands out from the crowd. Alex faced a lot of unspeakable horrors and trials in this book which left her devastated, a lot, ( i was too), but what I love about her character is how she exudates herself from every situation. It’s like one day she’s gaping at the floor depressed, then when she realized there’s more to life than that, she immediately remedied herself. It’s like she’s running a race and fell down, but she got up back again and picked up her pace faster than before. I love that about her! Her hopeful attitude leaves a great mark on the readers. Girls like her deserve respect. Though she has some days that shows her stubborn side out of her sheer strong will, but instead of being annoyed at this, I totally understand her side. In Pure, her character is really tested, and she made it out of the fire hardly blemished.
Warning readers! Be prepared because Pure will challenge your loyalties. Team Aiden vs Team Seth is totally official. LOL. I love every love triangle-worthy in books. There are some books that create love triangles but they really don’t work, or the feelings involved in the situation is too complicated and impossible to believe in, but Pure delivered a totally common but different approach. I have to say though I respect and love Aiden, but he bored me to death here (save for some drool-worthy moments). Seth totally caught my attention, I’m like “i’m all yours Seth”. I’ve been pining for Seth since day 1 in Half-blood, I knew he’s such a fun character, and he really is. He’s got lot of exposure in Pure, and all’s great. He’s a funny, hilarious, self-absorbent but caring character. He has a deeper more serious side that he hides behind a comical mask. Mysterious and adorable really. :) He’s not all hot-bod cool guy, but at some point in the story, he totally had my respect.
Many things transpired in Pure that you wouldn’t want to miss. Jennifer Armentrout didn’t fail me on this one. I thank God for the ARC given to me. :)

Loved the review! I'm so eager to read this myself. I've heard so much about Seth being in the forefront in Pure...can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI adore that about Alex; I really admire her strength and spunk! Also, Seth is HILARIOUS! His banter with Alex and his banter with Aiden is delightful. :D
