There are people in this world who are Nobody. No one sees them. No one notices them. They live their lives under the radar, forgotten as soon as you turn away.  That’s why they make the perfect assassins.
The Institute finds these people when they’re young and takes them away for training. But an untrained Nobody is a threat to their organization. And threats must be eliminated.
Sixteen-year-old Claire has been invisible her whole life, missed by the Institute’s monitoring. But now they’ve ID’ed her and send seventeen-year-old Nix to remove her.
Nix is a killer.  Claire is his target. But from the moment he sets eyes on her, everything changes, because only the two of them can truly see each other – and two Nobodies are more than twice as dangerous as one.

My Review:

Nobody is unlike any other book I’ve ever read. It stars Nix and Claire, and it alternately narrates from their point of views. Nix and Claire are “nobodies”, though both of them grew up from different environments. Nix grew up trained as an assassin by “the Society”, an organization posed on killing “Nulls”, who are powerful and manipulative beings, in short, criminals who get away with what they do. While Claire grew up in the normal world, except that people don’t notice her. Her parents barely remembers her. She’s the kind of person people never notices and always take for granted for. IN real life, there are people like that, people who we never knew where there unless we have an encounter with them. But in Nobody, it’s exaggerated and they were given a profoundly different characteristics and abilities. I’ve never thought about this idea, and now that Jennifer Lynn Barnes told a story based on it, it’s really really cool.

The writing is a bit indifferent, and this has, I think, something to do with it being told in a third person POV, though also from the perspectives of Nix and Claire. But later on, you’ll be able to catch up with it, and the element is pretty catchy too, kind of poetic and lyric-y. The point where Nix and Claire met, and first interact, was very detailed and put more time with, and I think this is a good point because everything they’ve ever known in their entire life, especially for Nix, is being questioned and everything is confusing and mangled. That was exciting and relatively crucial to the story. When you think about it, the basic plot of the story is predictable, but the details and how it was flowingly written made a BIG difference.

If you’re a fan of YA scifi and basically a book that is a bit different from your normal read, then you can give Nobody a try. :)

Note: Opinion of the blogger is in no way paid for. :)
